Inspiration The Shadow Effect: Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark
A Riveting Movie by Debbie Ford
Uncover the wisdom in your wounds, the blessings in your misfortunes, and the gifts that are waiting to be claimed where you may least expect them . . . in the dark.

Debbie Ford’s new film, The Shadow Effect premieres Friday, June 26 and when you see it, you’ll be transformed like never before! The New York Times best-selling author (The Dark Side of the Light Chasers, When Good People Do Bad Things) is known for her groundbreaking work on gaining emotional freedom through the discovery of our dark side. And in this riveting interactive movie experience, Debbie unleashes the shadow in its many shapes and forms, so we can meet it head-on and find our way from our darkest thoughts to our greatest dreams.

As she recounts her own personal struggles with addiction, Debbie introduces us to the shadow—the hidden things about ourselves that we don’t want anyone to know, the monsters that come out of the caves at night. As we hear the familiar lyrics: “Hello darkness, my old friend. I’ve come to talk with you again,” we realize they describe our relationship with the shadow.

As Debbie says, “Most of us have a public life and a secret life. We wear masks that we think will lead us to where we want to go. Which one do you wear?”

Writing bad checks? Cheating on your lover? Bingeing on chocolate in the middle of the night? Living in clutter that has gotten out of hand? Being the nice guy at work who comes home and verbally abuses his kids? These are all the shadows that cast darkness on our path to an enriched and purposeful life.

With its montage of haunting images from decades past and days present; gripping clips of dark thoughts and saving light; and stirring narratives by Debbie and many award-winning authors and evolutionary thinkers and icons such as Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra and Mark Victor Hansen, The Shadow Effect shakes our reality and dares us to challenge our shadows.

“The entire trajectory of human history is like the Titanic. It is headed for an iceberg,” Marianne Williamson observes. “And each and every one of us is the captain.”

Are you ready to take the helm and turn the wheel toward the light? There will be a lot of work for you to do, but Debbie feels that we are up to the task. “Our brightest light can shine only when we accept the darkness.”

This movie facilitated a silence in the room as individuals contemplated their own shadow and how they could free themselves of their limitations. Very powerful. I recommend this movie for anyone ready to move beyond….
